Project Description
From my perspective, this project was all about giving back to less fortunate children. We randomly chose the name of an orphan from an orphanage named City of Angels and made a gift for our child. These toys and gifts were then taken to the orphanage and given to the children by the teachers and families of HTHCV on behalf of the Soler/Patton sophomore team.

2 Hour Challenge
To get us to started with our brainstorming, we chose a partner that had an orphan similar to our own in age and built a toy prototype. My partners were Lauren and Levi so we decided to make a lifesized Angry Birds game. This is the Bird that we painted and would be launch by rubber bands to knock down wood-block structures. |

Explanation of Process
My final toy that I decided to work on for Juan Christofer was a floor scooter. When I pitched this project to my family, they immediately were excited and wanted to help me. We figured that since Juan Christofer was a young child and was in a less fortunate situation than my family, making a great toy that he would enjoy for a long time was the least we could do! My dad is an engineer so we came up with a plan on how to create the scooter. After we made a plan, my dad went to work and cut the wood to the size we wanted it to be. After it was cut, my dad brought it home so that we could sand, prime, paint, seal, and assemble the scooter. As far as a design, I decided to make the theme of the scooter Star Wars. I created a stencil for the art aspect of the scooter by using blue tape and carved the stencil with an exacto knife. Here are some photos from that process:
