HISTORY OF PHYSICS
Physicists and the study of physics goes very far back to about 300 BC. In this project, will research famous physicists throughout history and what their inventions / discoveries did to benefit the world that we now live in. Everyone chose their individual physicist that they would like to study and will write a short historical fiction story based on what we learned, and make a detailed cartoon watercolor painting of our physicists.
What I Learned
To introduce us to the project, Mrs. Quinlan taught us about some of the most historically-known physicists. A few included Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Gallileo Galilei, Marie Curie, ect. We didn't spend much time learning about one specific person, we just learned a brief overview of their lives' so we could feel inspired when choosing our physicist to study. When I was brainstorming, I didn't feel too connected the a lot of the physicists because of how long ago they made their discoveries. I chose to research Bill Nye because I grew up watching "Bill Nye: The Science Guy" so I already knew a lot about him as a person, but not much about his discoveries. I gathered all of the information that I needed about him to put together the story about him. For the drawing portion, we started out with drawing packets that taught us how to do the basics such as how to shape the head and where the facial features should be drawn.
Personal Reflection
What I was most proud of in this project is how my historical fiction story came out. I based the story off of things that were random facts about Bill Nye that didn't really seem to connect to each other at all, but with the way I arranged them in the story they made sense. I feel like the story wasn't too crazy or over dramatic, it was just the right amount of exaggeration to make it seem believable but still showed at the same time it was obviously fiction. I was also very happy about how my watercolor paining of my physicist came out because I had never really done a detailed drawing of a person so I definitely surprised myself with how well and detailed it came out.
